Eagle Nest Update May 16, 2016

On my last visit to the Benbow Bald Eagle nest it was obvious that a lot of growing had been going on over the past nine days. Unfortunately the light was very challenging and in both the stills and the video, it may require some squinting and even a bit of imagination to see what’s happening.

Here you can see one of the youngsters in shadow on the right side of the nest. On the left you can see one of the parents leaning over and feeding the other baby. I thought it was interesting that because of the way the shadow falls on the eaglet on the right, the head looks white. It will actually take 5 years before the adult white head is fully developed.
Here one of the eaglets takes in the view.
Here you can see one of the adults, head lifted in song.
In this video you will be able to get glimpses of the second eaglet over on the left side of the nest as it is being fed.
