Free Range Photography

My hope is to bring visitors to this site into the world I am privileged to experience whenever I step out my back door to soak in the natural world around me. For me, this is the “real world”. Observing birds and wildlife and taking in the flow of the always-changing environment allow me to feel a sense belonging I believe is innate to all of us, but has been displaced by the separateness modern human life imposes. I am neither a trained naturalist nor a highly skilled photographer, but I feel an urgency to share what I see whether it’s an unusual occurrence or the simple beauty of a soaring Red-tailed Hawk. I live in Humboldt County in Northern California where nature is still batting last, demanding that we pay attention to the web of interconnection we all depend on.
